Arthur Van Doren

Arthur Van Doren is a Belgian professional hockey player.  He played club hockey in Belgium for KHC Dragons. With this club, he won several national hockey championships.   In 2017 he won the Bronze Medal at the Euro Hockey League (EHL) with KHC Dragons.  He plays currently for HC Bloemendaal in the Netherlands.  He won his first Dutch national title in 2019.   Arthur won in 2021 the Dutch title and the gold medal at the Euro Hockey League with HC Bloemendaal.  Something that was repeated in 2022 and in 2023 Bloemendaal secured again the win in the Euro Hockey League but lost in the NL championship in the final.  Next season (23/24) Bloemendaal will renew their quest for both national title and the EHL title.

International Career

Arthur Van Doren became European champion with the Belgium under-21 squad in 2012.  His first selection for the Belgian National Team (BNT) was at the age of 17. With Belgium, he became European Vice-Champion at the 2013 European Championship on home ground in Boom and at the 2017 European Championship in Amstelveen (NL).  In 2016 he won the Silver Medal with the BNT at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.  That same year he received the FIH Rising Star of the Year award, which he won again in 2017 together with the FIH Player of the Year award.  After being transferred from KHC Dragons to HC Bloemendaal at the end of season 17-18, he won with the BNT the World Cup in Bhubaneswar (IN) in december 2018 and again the FIH Player of the Year Award.  Several month later he lifted with his teammates the European Cup in his home town Antwerp (BE).  In December 2019, he again was nominated for the FIH Player of the Year Award.  He won the Pro League season 2020-2021 and in June 2021, he won with the BNT the Bronze Medal at the European Championship in Amstelveen (NL).  In the summer of 2021 he won at the Tokyo Olympic Games the Golden Medal after beating Australia after shoot outs in the final. 

The next big challenge for the Red Lions was in 2023 at the World Cup in India.  The Red Lions lost the final and went home with the Silver Medal.  Last summer he played with the Lions the European Championship and won the Bronze Medal after defeating Germany in the small final.  

Arthur is currently back on the pitch with HC Bloemendaal and started also the preparation with the Red Lions for the Olympic Games of Paris in 2024.
